The film meticulously recreates the methods and torture techniques used by inquisitors against women accused of witchcraft, including the use of sharp objects, flogging, rough wood, and forced sexual acts during stretching and suspension, among others. The filmmakers successfully depict the victim developing an emotional dependency on her anonymous tormentor. It is a powerful production with compelling performances, despite being virtually bloodless.
